Why is Branding So Important?
Are you a small business owner or entrepreneur, who is struggling to maintain your dream of recurring residual income?
Do you wonder why Branding is so important for your business?
The Importance of Branding
Of course, I am going to answer that question with another question that relates to branding. How many of you have ever walked by a piece of garbage on the floor and neglected to pick it up and throw it away?
I know I have at least once in my life. I think I can almost remember every time that I didn’t pick it up. Almost as though I was unconsciously branding the moment in my head. However, I cannot remember the number of times in my life that I have littered.
I am also sure that every one of us has littered at least once. Even those times you did it while saying, “Well, it’s biodegradable.” That is still considered littering. Although, a better question to ask is what if you returned, and saw that same piece of trash lying in the same spot.
What would you do then?
Some leave it there, some would throw it away, and others might call someone else to clean it up. Everyone has a different way of seeing the world, a different way we receive information, which is why we all experience life differently.
It is not a bad thing. That’s what makes us unique. We all have different points of view and different perspectives, which can often align, therefore connecting each of us. That’s part of the beauty of humanity.
It’s part of our brilliance, our experience, our passion, as well as our journey. However, what does this have to do with branding? Our experiences are why branding is so important. Here is how I answered a similar question by Jason Roberts on Alignable.
Q: What is branding?
A: The American Heritage Dictionary defines a few forms of Branding (See Image). Here we are referring to the American Heritage Dictionary definition listed below.
“To provide with or publicize using a brand name or other readily recognized identifier.” – The American Heritage Dictionary
Q: What can I do to create a solid Brand?
A: That often varies on your business. The best thing you can do for your brand is to make sure you provide value. Then engage your clients to research and find out more ways that your brand consumers solve problems.

The Importance of Branding:
Q: “Why do you think logos and branding are so important for a business” (Roberts)?
A: “I believe the main reason is familiarity. In the 1950’s the advertising industry realized that familiar marks, music, faces, and voices make customers feel comfortable. Consumers began to trust the familiarities these corporations presented and the brands they symbolized.
Through the advanced use of symbiotics and media, advertisers tested Freud and Jung’s theories in an attempt to imprint messages almost directly into consumers minds.
Of course, everyone does not receive each message the same, but the logos and brand images became mainstream ways of communicating trust, confidence, and value.”

“These three emotions, combined with the desire to be like our neighbors, make consumers feel as though they are an extended part of the experience of the brand. Some families even have arguments over which brand to purchase because it is what their family used to buy. The brand is a part of their life.
That life experience compels customers to buy based on that branding, even if it has yet to live up to any expectations. Therefore, brands and logos make consumers feel at home” (Reo).
